February 19, 2016

We are happy to report that we were back at the bargaining table on February 16th, 17th, 18th. The Employer tabled a comprehensive offer that, contrary to an earlier memo sent to DDEC employees, does include monetary increases.

Although we still have a lot of ground to cover, the last three days resulted in good face to face discussions of the issues, that will help us progress closer to a tentative deal during bargaining dates set for April 26th , 27th and 28th in Yellowknife.

Our goal continues to focus on achieving a positive outcome and an improved collective agreement for our members at Ekati. Please watch for any future announcements.

Your solidarity and support of your Bargaining Team is greatly appreciated.

In follow-up to the January 12, 2016 bargaining communique the result of mediation held in Vancouver, B.C., was that the unfair labour practice complaints have been put in abeyance and we will return to the bargaining table, where we expect that these issues will be resolved.

Bargaining dates have now been scheduled for February 16, 17, 18, 2016 in Edmonton and April 26, 27, 28, 2016 in Yellowknife.

Our goal continues to focus on achieving a positive outcome and an improved collective agreement for our members at Ekati. Please watch for any future announcements.

Local X3050 Bargaining Team

January 12, 2016

The parties met for the last two days in Vancouver, B.C. to accept mediation services offered by the Canada Industrial Relation Board (CIRB) to facilitate a resolve to a failure to bargain complaint filed by Dominion Diamonds on May 28, 2015 and a further unfair labour practice complaint filed by the Public Service Alliance of Canada on August 25, 2015.

The parties reached an agreement to adjourn hearing dates set for January 25-27, 2016 and return to the bargaining table as soon as possible to work towards reaching renewal of the collective agreement.

Our goal continues to focus on achieving a positive outcome and an improved collective agreement for our members at Ekati. Please watch for an announcement of future bargaining dates.

Your solidarity and support of your Bargaining Team is greatly appreciated.

January 4, 2016

As reported in the November bargaining communiqué, the Canada Industrial Relation Board (CIRB) has scheduled hearings on January 26, 27 and 28, 2016 in Vancouver, B.C. to hear a failure to bargain complaint filed by Dominion Diamonds on May 28, 2015 and a further unfair labour practice complaint filed by the Public Service Alliance of Canada on August 25, 2015.

In an attempt to resolve these issues prior to the January 26, 27, 28 hearing dates, the parties have agreed to mediation services offered by the CIRB, therefore mediation has been scheduled for next week, January 11 and 12, 2016.

In final preparation for mediation and if necessary the hearing, we are asking that any bargaining unit employees that have experienced out of pocket expenses due to changes to the Aviation Policy on June 1, 2015, email details of such expenses to wilsonj@psac.com.

Examples of such out of pocket expenses are those expenses over and above the shortfall between the commuter allowance paid to you by DDC and the reduced rate airline tickets available through First Air. This could include expenses due to flight delays, missed connections or having to purchase full cost airline tickets because the reduced rate tickets were sold out.

Your Bargaining Team is hopeful that mediation will resolve these issues which will allow us to get back to the bargaining table sooner.

Our goal continues to focus on achieving a positive outcome and an improved collective agreement for our members at Ekati. Please watch for future announcements.

Your solidarity and support of your Bargaining Team is greatly appreciated.
