Note there is a correction:

Date: April 8. 2013
TO: All Bargaining Unit Members at the Northwest Territories Power Corporation
RE: CORRECTION to March 15, 2013 Letter re Vote on a Tentative Agreement

It has come to our attention that the March 15. 2013 ratification letter incorrectly lists the
effective dates for the wage increases as beginning on April 1 of each year of the collective agreement.

The correct dates are:
Wage Increases: (5.60 % over 3 years)
Effective January 1. 2012 1.50%
Effective January 1. 2013 1.50%
Effective January 1. 2014 2.50 %
Please note that the correct dates are properly shown on the attached Memorandum of
Settlement, page 4, of the March 15, 2013 letter.
In Solidarity.

December 19, 2012 ~ Bargaining Goes Nowhere!

(or "How the Grinch Stole Christmas")

At the invitation of the Employer to restart negotiations, your Bargaining Team met with the Northwest Territories Power Corporation's management bargaining team yesterday in Yellowknife.

This bargaining meeting was conditional on the Employer changing its position on wages which it had tabled in June 2012, which would have adversely effected employees in Pay Grades 1 – 4 for the entire term of the new proposed agreement, and warp the job evaluation structure in place. Due to your support and solidarity, the Employer agreed to amend its offensive position and did so at the bargaining table.

The Union made significant moves in an attempt to reach a deal this week.

However the Employer did not table any offer which would have moved us closer to a deal. In fact the Employer held on to most of its concessions which would have employees paying for their own wage increases - the rates did not change from the Employer's last offer in June 2012!

We have secure mediation dates scheduled for May 28 – 30, 2013 in Yellowknife, and that is how we intend to proceed. If the Employer wants a fight, they will get one.

June 22, 2012 ~ The Issues!

In order to clarify bargaining issues for the Union membership, the UNW has developed the following outline of outstanding and controversial issues at the bargaining table. These are not all of the issues – only the most important issues facing the membership, especially those Corporation proposals that are pay concessions.
